Privacy Policy

1. Information you enter

You may record income and expenses, wallets and balances, transfers, budgets and limits, savings goals, recurring bills and salary, utility bills, Eid and Ramadan budgets, zakat assets and payments, salary details for the income tax calculator, people you lend to, borrow from or split bills with (with an optional phone number), committees and their members, notes, tags and receipt photos. The app also keeps your settings, such as your currency, the day your month starts and your reminder choices.

All of this is saved in a database on your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else by the app. If you add other people’s names or phone numbers, please make sure they are happy for you to do so.

2. Permissions the app asks for

• Camera and photos — only when you choose to attach a receipt. The photo you take or pick is copied into the app’s private storage on your device.
• Notifications — only if you turn on reminders, such as the daily logging reminder, bills due, udhaar due dates, committee installments and Eid and Ramadan. Reminders are scheduled on your device from your own data; no reminder content is sent anywhere.

3. Backups and exports

You can create a backup file containing all your data and receipt photos, or a spreadsheet (CSV) of your entries. These files are saved or shared to the place you choose, such as your phone’s files, Google Drive, email or a messaging app. We never receive them. Backup files are not encrypted, so anyone who has one can read it — keep it somewhere safe.

When you restore, you pick a backup file yourself; the app reads it on your device and replaces the data there.

4. Messages you send

Some features prepare a message for you — for example a reminder about udhaar, a split-bill summary or a committee lucky-draw result. The app opens WhatsApp or your phone’s share menu with the message ready; you decide whether to send it. What happens next is governed by that app’s privacy policy.

5. App updates

When it has an internet connection, the app may check for small improvements and fixes through our update service, provided by Expo (expo.dev). That check shares technical details needed to deliver the right update — such as the app version, your device platform and your IP address — and none of your entries. Expo handles this information under its own privacy policy.

6. Google Play

If you install the app from Google Play, Google may collect information about the download and about crashes under Google’s own privacy policy. We may see anonymous, aggregated statistics (such as install counts) that Google provides to all developers.

7. Deleting your data

Because your data is only on your device, you are in control. Use Settings → Your data → Erase all data, or uninstall the app, to delete it. Backup files you created are separate; delete them wherever you saved them.

8. Security

Your data is protected by your device’s own security. We recommend using a screen lock. The app’s “Hide amounts” option can mask figures when you use it in public.

9. Children

The app is meant for adults managing their own money and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
